At Club Kingswood Nursey we are committed to the inclusion of all children. All children have the right to be cared for and educated to develop to their full potential. We strive for all children to learn in a positive environment with positive experiences, this allows us to support all children and meet their individual needs.
We also believe all children have the right to learn and play alongside their peers no matter what their individual needs. We ensure all children are involved in every activity and that if an activity needs to be adapted to meet their individual needs, then we will do this accordingly.
The nursery staff and team work alongside the parents/ carers that are involved in all their child's learning and development and we always value and respect the parent/carers wishes. We involve all parents through using the Famly app as this allows us to contact parents directly and also for all parents to see their child's developmental progress. The parents can also contact the child's key person and ask them questions. Parents can also upload their own observations and take part in home learning.
Our aims of this policy are to; liaise with parents and outside professionals, we do this following the correct information sharing guidelines and confidentiality. If staff have any concerns about a child's development, they should speak to the nursery manager and SENCO and then they will arrange a meeting with the parent/ carer to see if they have any concerns and then we will take the appropriate steps to help the child and contact other professionals.
We follow the SEND code of practice 0-25 years 2014 which gives us guidelines to support a child and work towards meeting their individual needs . The famly app runs alongside the new current frame work, which is The Early Years Foundation Stage 2021, Development Matters frame work 2021 and Birth to five matters 2021. These frameworks give us guidance on how we assess, plan, do and review a child's development. We use this framework with all our children within the setting and adapt it around the child's developmental needs. Our main aim here at Club Kingswood Nursery is to ensure every child's needs are met and that all parents and carers are involved in their child's ongoing development.
As SENCO it is my role to ensure the following procedures within this policy are carried out throughout the setting on a daily basis and that all staff are aware of their individual roles to meeting the needs of the child and making sure all procedures are carried out. Our policies will always be reviewed by the SENCO and the nursery manager.
Our SEN Officer is Danielle Dorney.
